The Anthony Nolan Trust is a charity which takes back lives from leukaemia by providing life saving donors for patients in need of a bone marrow transplant. This year, on June 13th, I decided to take part in a sponsered abseil to raise money for this cause. The decent, was 80ft down St Columba's Cathedral in Oban.

''...Abseil needs little introduction. Suffice to say it is one of the most exhilarating experiences you will ever have. The views from the abseil point are stunning....if you have your eyes open! The venue is the St Columba's Cathedral in Oban. The Cathedral stands on the edge of Oban Bay looking west across the Firth of Lorne to Iona and beyond, across the Atlantic to North America and Canada....'
The weather stayed dry for the event, making it even more worthwhile! The views from the top were great, and looked over the Isle of Kerrera towards Mull. The sea was flat calm, and as I awaited for my trip down the cathedral, it was a perfect oppourtunity to take in the stunning views!
Having never abseiled before, I wasn't quite sure what I was in for, but after climbing thousands of narrow spiral stairs to reach the top, I thought it couldn't be much worse than this! I found, actuly climbing over the ledge at the top quite hard, but once you got the hang of the ropes I seemed to relax, and enjoy the view!
It was a good day, and even better to think its all for a good cause. Below, is a link to my site which will still remain active for a while. This enables anyone to donate online, all money goes straight to the Anthony Nolan Trust. If you would like to sponsor my abseil, and help give that little bit more, then please visit:
